This piece arrived without an invitation. I was deep in the middle of the series when the olive branch appeared — not planned, not forced. Just there, asking to be drawn.
Perdono means forgiveness. Not the easy kind, and not forgiveness directed at a person. This was something extended outward — to the universe, to whatever took my brother from us too soon. The olive branch is one of the oldest symbols of forgiveness, and I needed it to mean something real. It reminds me of the saying, the only way around is through. The completion of this piece marked the moment where I not only accepted, but forgave.
It sold before I was fully ready to let it go. But perhaps that is also part of what forgiveness asks of us.
